Heaney, too ...

Just got off the phone with Jim Heaney, investigative reporter with the Buffalo News. I'll talk with him tomorrow about the Buffalo News disagreement with the BPD, as well.

Jim and Mike DeGeorge will NOT be on at the same time, but this will give both sides of the story to get their point across.

Heaney told me that he was a Pulitzer Prize finalist a few years back. I did not know that.

So ... tomorrow should be fun. Be sure to listen in at 10 a.m. on Hometown 1230, WECK.

Buffalo PD respond to Buffalo News story tomorrow ...

I just got off the phone with Mike DeGeorge, spokesperson for the Buffalo Police Department. He will talk with me tomorrow morning during Reason on Hometown 1230 WECK about the recent string of stories in the Buffalo News concerning police cooperation (or lack thereof) with the news media.

Be sure to tune in during the 10 o'clock hour. Either on AM 1230 ... or weck1230.com.

Today's front pages ...

I saw another website from another part of the country that displays images of that day's papers as part of their blog. I thought it a novel idea and thought I might try it here, along with links to those papers and their stories. Keep in mind, the logos and stories of other media are copyrigtten by that media. And the images and stories created on this website are copywritten by scottleffler.com.

The images of the Lockport Journal, Niagara Gazette and Tonawanda news were obtained from their respective websites (click the papers to go to those sites). Occasionally, the Buffalo News will be available through the Newseum website, which features over 600 front pages daily (although not always the same ones ... which is why there's not Buffalo News today)

On tap for August 6, 2008

There's lots to do today in Western New York.

Walter Trout and Watermelon Slim will be playing at Artpark.

The Dave Constantino Band with Switch in Tonawanda.

Kids' fave Glenn Colton at the Lockport Library.

And it's Ryan Garko bobble head night at Dunn Tire Park for the Bisons game against Indianapolis.

For even more to do, check ArtVoice's events calendar, filled with events, exhibits and musical expositions around WNY.

Side note: It's an old friend's birthday. If anyone sees Camie Miles today, tell her I wish her a happy 32nd.
